On Saturday 11 February, at 6 pm, MOCAK and the Department of Contemporary Criticism of the Faculty of Polish Studies at the Jagiellonian University invite you to a discussion about Aleksandra Młynarczyk-Gemza’s Zapiski wariatki [Notes of a Madwoman]. The session will be held in Polish.
Notes of a Madwoman: Exhibition opening and performative reading of fragments from the book
On Thursday 9 February at 6 pm you are invited to the opening of the exhibition Aleksandra Młynarczyk-Gemza Notes of a Madwoman. The opening will start at 6 pm in MOCAK audiovisual room with the artist giving a performative reading of fragments of her book of the same title. The session will be conducted in Polish.
Notes of a Madwoman
Notes of a Madwoman is also the title of the artist’s debut novel (Znak, 2022). The book reveals experiences relating to different aspects of life: being a woman, an artist and someone with a diagnosed mental illness. The works on view in the MOCAK Library are illustrations for selected chapters of the novel.

In our selection, we have taken into account the specific circumstances of the exhibition. The selected works are intended for young and ambitious people facing a professional challenge. The tests that await them require strength, concentration, critical thinking, and determination. Crossing paths with art has a marked impact on the need to define oneself.
Thursdays with Artists from the MOCAK Collection. Paweł Susid
In November and December 2022 and January 2023, we show an interview with Paweł Susid. The artist talks about his philosophy of art. The screening of the interview complements the exhibition of the painter’s works, which is currently part of the exhibitions of the MOCAK Collection and Politics in Art.

On Thursday, 15 December 2022 at 5 pm we invite you to a guided tour in English. In the introduction to the exhibition, we will bring closer to visitors the figure of Janina Turek, and the museum’s ways of working with such idiosyncratic art.
