Artists Talk: Julijonas Urbonas

On Saturday, March 9, at 4 pm, we invite you to the MOCAK audiovisual hall for a meeting with Julijonas Urbonas, who will present his work.
Julijonas Urbonas - a total artist: visual artist, designer, performer, engineer, researcher, founder of the Lithuanian Space Agency, associate professor and former pro-rector of the Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts. Former director of the Klaipeda amusement park. He coined the term "gravitational aesthetics." He is the author of unique creative methodologies: vehicle poetics and design choreography. The artist has received many awards, including the Prix Ars Electronica 2010. His projects are in private and museum collections, such as the Lithuanian Art Museum, the X Museum in Beijing, and the Karlsruhe Art and Media Center (ZKM).
Urbonas' work includes critical design, theme park engineering, performance architecture, choreography, kinetic art and science fiction. His work has been presented in various venues and contexts: art, design and architecture biennials, academic and non-academic publications, and television and radio programs. The artist's work Euthanasia Coaster can be seen at the exhibition "Try to make it real. But comared to what?": Contemporary Art from Lithuania.

The event will be held in English. The event is free of charge for participants, funded by the Lithuanian Culture Institute. No prior registration is required. The meeting will be held in the audiovisual hall of MOCAK. Duration: approximately 60 minutes.
