Opening of the exhibition The State of Possession: The Topography of the MOCAK Collection – Part I

On 24 July, we’re opening a new exhibition. It’s a project that stems from a specific situation – the experience of the constraints MOCAK is facing. Kamil Kuitkowski writes in his curatorial text that this is an exhibition ‘built upon the experience of absence: a lack of time and stability, and above all, a lack of financial resources – a lack resulting from the implosion of the institution’s budget and the depletion of the resources necessary to have carried out the planned activities.’
At the time of this crisis, we have taken a closer look at what lies at the heart of MOCAK: the collection. At the same time, we are putting the spotlight on the team shaped by years of working together, the ideas, relationships, and experiences we’ve accumulated – and also on all of you, our audience.
That is why, this time, we are foregoing the traditional opening reception – and instead, we invite you to an all-day exhibition opening. We have prepared a programme for adults and children, accessible to people with diverse needs.
In the penultimate week of July – as a special exception – free admission to the museum will be on Friday, rather than on Thursday as usual.
