Thursdays with the Collection: Shahar Marcus
21.03.2019 at 11 am – 7 pm
In February and March, as part of the Thursdays with the Collection project, we will be presenting Shahar Marcus’ work Homecoming Artist (Dresden). It is a recording of a performance in which the artist plays the role of an artworld celebrity. Dressed in a smart suit, he travels through Dresden in a cabriolet with his chauffer and two models. He greets passers-by with a characteristic, slightly arrogant gesture. The documentation of Shahar Marcus’ interactions with passers-by is accompanied by their comments, in which they admit to never having heard of such an artist and not being interested in contemporary art at all. This is the second work in the MOCAK Collection in which the artist presents an ironic outlook on the world of art. The previous work, entitled The Curator, can be watched in the gallery space at level -1.
The current project Tuesdays with the Collection, in which once a week selected video works from the MOCAK Collection are shown in the audiovisual hall, continues as Thursdays with the Collection due to altered timetable.
The screenings take place throughout the day during the Museum’s opening hours: 11 am – 7 pm. Admission to the MOCAK Collection exhibition is free of charge on Thursday.
