Thursdays with the Collection. Beat Streuli
24.09.2020 at 11 am–7 pm
In July, August and September, as part of the summer edition of Thursdays with the Collection we present Beat Streuli’s Tamarama Surfers 01-24-01. The work shows a group of surfers on Tamarama beach in Sydney. In the struggle to conquer the elements, having fun and testing one’s physical prowess are rolled into one. The surfers emerge momentarily, only to be instantly pushed back under the water.
Beat Streuli – photography, installation, video. The artist is best known for his shots capturing passers-by on their daily routes. He portrays city dwellers around the world. He picks out from the crowd people who catch his eye, with a special interest focusing on the moment when the mask designed for others slips and the authentic visage appears. As the background for his depictions, Beat Streuli uses usually the dynamics of contemporary metropolises.
The screenings take place throughout the day during the Museum’s opening hours (July, August: 11 am – 9 pm, September: 11 am – 7 pm). Admission to the MOCAK Collection exhibitions is free of charge on Thursday.
In July and August viewings will be also available every Thursday throughout July and August from 8 pm as a live stream on the Museum’s YouTube channel >>
