The Night of Museums at MOCAK

On Friday 17 May MOCAK and the Department of Culture and National Heritage of Krakow City Council invite you to the Night of Museums at MOCAK! The visitors will be able to see all the exhibitions and take part in the events that have been prepared especially for the occasion.
On the day, the Museum will be open exclusively from 6 pm until 1 am. Last admittance to the exhibitions at 0.30 am. On Saturday 18 May there will be the International Museum Day. On the day, MOCAK will open for visitors from 12 noon.
This year, Krakow Night of Museums takes place under the banner of NATURA-lly. All the more reason to encourage everyone to visit MOCAK, where we present our new exhibition Nature in Art. All current exhibitions >> We also invite you to the MOCAK Library and the Archive.
Admission 1 zł. With the ticket, visitors receive a commemorative coin inscribed: XVI Night of Museums in Krakow.
In the main hall there will be a Poczta Polska – Polish Post Office – stand, with postcards and a special stamp and stamp prepared for the occasion.
As each year on this occasion, MOCAK has also prepared an artistic object that you will be able to get from a workshop or in a competition.
Inauguration of the Night of Museums 2019 in Krakow

One of the attractions in the space that has been adapted especially for the event – inspired by the exhibition Nature in Art and the leitmotif of the Night of Museums Krakow 2019 NATURA-lly – will be Good Lood! Especially for the of Night of Museums at MOCAK, the famous Krakow ice-cream will make be available at the Museum, in Zabłocie, ul. Lipowa 4.

I’m in a Green Mood
Check out open session with the Living Workshop in our Chill-out Zone.
The space in the MOCAK arcade will be the green area in which to relax but also create a spatial installation. The participants learn the basic weaving techniques and will be able to contribute pieces they have made themselves to the textile hanging to decorate the communal space. Grass, reeds, herbs and wicker from the Vistula meadows will be used in the works. The newly-hatched weavers will also have an opportunity to make some natural decorations to take home. All materials will be provided by the organiser.

7 pm – 11 pm Art at Your Fingertips
During the open workshop you can explore the materials that artists use, and explore their textures. They will try to identify these materials in works in the exhibition Nature in Art.
Children are especially welcome – but participants of all ages will have fun with this activity! And it should prove interesting for anyone with sight impairment, who should notify us prior to visiting by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or phone (12 263 40 35).
Visitors can arrive at any time from 7 pm until 11 pm. However, due to limited spaces, there may be a waiting time.
Nature in Art – a guided tour

Guided tour in Polish. Please be at MOCAK reception 5 minutes before the scheduled start of the tour. The tour will last approximately one hour.
Your host will be Anna Oramus, an educator and MOCAK guide, a student of stage design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow.
Screening of the film Before the Flood
Directed by Fisher Stevens, 96 min
The National Geographic documentary Before the Flood (2016), produced as a collaboration that included Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese, contributes to the debate on global climate change. The projection will take part in the audiovisual room in MOCAK. In English, with Polish subtitles.
Admission is free.
Visit the Museum in Ukrainian
The Ukrainian-language guided tour gives you MOCAK in a nutshell. This is an opportunity to find out about the history of the Museum’s site and building, the works in our Collection and our temporary exhibitions.
Please be at MOCAK reception 5 minutes before the scheduled start of the tour. The tour will last approximately 90 min.
Your guide will be Olena Devero – of Ukrainian origin, a graduate of architecture at the Krakow Polytechnic and an aficionado of contemporary art. Since 2019, Olena Devero has worked closely with MOCAK Art Knowledge Department.
Mieczysław Porębski’s Library (MOCAK Collection). A guided tour.
The guided tour in Polish will take about ½ hr and will be a perfect introduction to the viewing of the MOCAK Collection at 10 pm. Places are limited. Please book in advance on: email@example.com or phone: 12 263 40 35.
