TechnoNight at MOCAK
We draw on the techno music parties in the cellars of Krzysztofory, where members of the Second Krakow Group used to meet. The works of these artists are currently on display in our exhibition Artists from Krakow. The cult café that used to be adjacent to the gallery hosted discos with electronic music and the best DJs. The events were initiated by Józef Chrobak.
On the Night of Museums, from 9.30 pm to 11 pm, we invite you to MOCAK audiovisual room for a techno music set and a panoramic animation created live on the basis of the works of the Krakow Group.
Scans of the works of the Second Krakow Group will be subjected to computer manipulation by Mateusz Świderski, an artist experimenting with the latest media. The images will respond to the music from a DJ and will be located at the juncture of virtual and real space. Świderski, a postgraduate student at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, is currently conducting research for a thesis involving 3D scans of dozens of works by artists from the Second Krakow Group. The premise of his research is the observation of how modern digital media are encroaching on various spheres of life. Newly established museums are being equipped with electronic systems that expand the possibilities of exploration and help to better understand the structure and content of artworks.
An important figure of the Krakow techno scene, the DJ and party promoter HiTrash will play his set.
