Announcement
Following the dismissal of the director of MOCAK, Mr Adam Budak, and my appointment as acting director, I set out below the priorities and objectives to be achieved in the near future:
1. Restoring a working atmosphere that will enable the museum to continue operating at the highest level and allow us to overcome organisational difficulties without detriment to the museum’s staff or its visitors.
I intend to undertake the tasks ahead in an atmosphere of mutual respect, kindness and co-operation, so that together we can build a positive image of the Museum and develop its programme of significant artistic importance. I am committed to organising work in a way that gives staff a sense of purpose, a clearly defined place within the structure, and a genuine contribution to the direction of the institution’s activities.
My priority and responsibility is to establish a transparent decision-making process and to create an organisational action plan in which everyone is clear about their responsibilities and objectives. Together, we will be working to bring about results consistent with the agreed objectives.
2. Ensuring financial stability and restoring the Museum’s ability to meet its financial obligations on time. My responsibilities will include a comprehensive assessment of the feasibility of funding individual elements of the programme within the existing budget. We face the task of adapting the Museum’s programme to its financial, organisational and staffing capabilities, whilst maintaining responsibility for the proper care of the artworks entrusted to us.
The setting out and development of activities accompanying the exhibition programme and educational activities (including events, workshops and publications), taking into account the actual needs and expectations of the audience, as well as systematic adaptation to changing trends and the audience profile. We will provide regular, transparent and reliable updates on the implementation of the programme, as well as analyse and make available reports on how the activities undertaken impact visitor numbers at the Museum.
3. Establishing and developing co-operation with other cultural institutions, based on mutual respect for their management, in the spirit of openness to diverse perspectives in the implementation of activities. Adopting an accommodating approach on behalf of the Museum as a shared asset – for the benefit of artists, staff, organisers and visitors. I am convinced that dialogue, mutual trust and respect for different points of view will enable us to develop solutions that serve the entire Museum community.
I would like to thank the Mayor of Kraków, Mr Aleksander Miszalski, Councillors, the Management of the Department of Culture and the City Council, and the Mayor’s Representative for Equality Policy for their swift response and the decisions taken, guided by the good of the Museum team and the institution itself.
For my part, I am committed to guiding the Museum through its current organisational challenges in a manner that is as conciliatory, smooth and responsible as possible. My ambition is to rebuild a community around the Museum based on the belief that art is a common good – a welcoming, user-friendly institution that delivers a programme of the highest artistic standard and fosters social dialogue.
I ask everyone for their kindness and support on this shared journey.
