MOCAK at the Book Fair in Paris

From 19 until 23 March in Paris the book fair Salon du livre de Paris will take place. The cities of Kraków and Wrocław have been invited to the event as honorary guests. Kraków – the first UNESCO City of Literature in this part of Europe, and Wrocław – European Capital of Culture and UNESCO World Book Capital 2016, together with the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the Book Institute, will make their mark on the cultural map of Europe at the oldest and largest exhibition event in the French-speaking world.

Kraków and Wrocław have prepared a rich programme – at the Polish stand there will take place 34 events featuring leading authors, poets, script‑writers, journalists and translators. All the sessions conducted in Polish will be accompanied by interpretation into French, and on the stand there will be available an information pack about both cities.

Significantly, more than a dozen publishers from a number of Polish cities will take part in the Fair as part of the Polish representation. MOCAK will be one of these, presenting its publications. The books published by the Museum that will appear at the Fair are: Władysław Hasior: The Polish Rauschenberg?, Wisława Szymborska: Collages, MOCAK Collection  III, Wilhelm Brasse. Photographer. 3444. Auschwitz 1940–1945, Julian Opie: Sculptures, Paintings, Films and EVA & ADELE: The Artist = A Work of Art.

The Polish stand will be hosting events and debates.

One of the events will be Everyday Surrealism: Collages of Wisława Szymborska, with the Director of MOCAK Maria Anna Potocka, Michał Rusinek and Magdalena Sroka, Deputy Mayor of the City of Krakow.

All the books presented at the exhibition, including the latest most important Polish publications and a comprehensive set of works of French literature in Polish translation, will be available in the specialist bookshop at the Fair.
