The session will be held in English. Admission free.

The PhotoBookMuseum - a museum for the 21st century. The mission of the museum is to promote the photobook as an independent artistic medium. The PhotoBookMuseum is intended to be a vibrant public space that educates a broad audience about the form, content and function of photobooks. Its motto could be this: away with showcases. The PBM have only a few valuable photobooks that are kept behind glass.

Markus Schaden, founder of the publishing house and book shop specialized on PhotoBooks - Schaden.com. As the former vice president of the German Society of Photography (DGPh) and as a member of the editorial board “Foam Magazine”, he has served on the juries of photography festivals in Arles, Paris, Krakow, Amsterdam, Kassel, Los Angeles and others. He curated PhotoBookStudies on The La Brea Matrix, a multi-faceted PhotoBook research project in 2008. Schaden taught PhotoBook Masterclasses in Amsterdam, Jakarta, Arles and Cologne in cooperation with Lichtblick School Cologne and the Goethe Institut. Frequently, he lectures at the Academy of Media Arts (KHM) in Cologne and the University for Applied Arts and Sciences in Dortmund. In 2014, Schaden founded The PhotoBookMuseum, the first museum focused on the curatorial display of PhotoBooks worldwide.
