Guided tour in English

On Saturday 17 January, at 12 noon, you are welcome to join our guided tour in English of the exhibition House of Day, House of Night: Works from the Collection of Radosław Kotarski. Your guide will be Daria Rzepiela, artist and educator.

The exhibition, featuring works by 33 artists from Poland, Belarus, Canada and Japan, is based on Radosław Kotarski’s collection and is the first such extensive public presentation of his private collection. The title of the exhibition is taken from the novel by Olga Tokarczuk – a melancholic, extremely ambiguous work in which descriptions of the material world, subject to specific rules, intertwine with the metaphysical, spiritual and inward. The presentation at MOCAK does not aim to illustrate the Nobel Prize winner’s novel, since its power relies on the persuasive imagery and thus it would only in parts lend itself to be transcribed into the language of visual arts. The exhibition is merely an attempt to translate the writer’s extraordinary concept, which, by juxtaposing myth with truth and merging reality with dreams, achieved a mysterious coherence that prompts the reader to try to grasp their own existence in an equally comprehensive way.

The guided tour is included in the exhibition ticket price. Please meet at the MOCAK reception desk.

The guide: Daria Rzepiela – artist, educator, active in the fields of painting, design and animation. She studied at the École supérieure de design, d’art graphique et d’architecture intérieure (ESAG) Penninghen in Paris and at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, where she obtained her doctorate in 2009. The artist is interested in non-verbal and polysemic narratives based on relationships. Art is a passion she shares with others. She has conducted workshops for, among others, the Fiver Children’s Foundation in New York, the Etiuda&Anima International Film Festival, the Film Spring Open festival, the National Children’s Fund and the Wisława Szymborska Foundation. She collaborates with MOCAK.
