The exhibition Poles – Their Own Portrait 2022–2025 addresses the theme of hospitality, the willingness to invite someone who has experienced the drama of war and displacement into one’s most private and intimate space. With this exhibition, Aleksander Janicki reminds us about our national drive to action in February 2022, through the artefacts that remain showing the relationships that were forged during that time.

In the current socio-political situation, this exhibition evokes reflections on how things were and how they are now. We will discuss this topic with invited guests – representatives of communities that bring together and support people from Ukraine. It will also be an opportunity to talk about how things could be and how we can shape the reality around us so that it continues to be a welcoming space for each and every one of us, regardless of where we hail from.
