A Parasite in MOCAK
Published at:28.06.2012
Simultaneously with the opening of the exhibition No Budget Show 4, Arek Parasite will move into the Museum, or, to be exact, into Gallery Beta. The artist became a Parasite, because he could not live without work, but nor could he afford to live off it. For two years he has been accepting invitations from hosts – both institutions and private individuals.
This is how the artist describes his project: ‘It relies on the transfer of the idea of parasitic activity from nature to culture. This enables an artist who has deliberately transferred his entire activity to parasitic activity to live directly, and in an unconventional way, off his art. The accommodation and space that the host provides becomes the base which makes survival possible; a starting point for further activity.’
The Parasite will live, eat, sleep, work and have a nice time until 10 July. During that period, visitors are welcome to bring him anything that he may need to survive – food, clothes, hygiene products… He will be glad of company, too – you can visit in the morning with a newspaper for him, and for a chat about art in the afternoon.
