Zbigniew Sałaj
(b. 1961) Painting, drawing, object. The artist is interested in unconventional means of artistic expression. Sałaj enters a dialogue with the matter: he transforms objects and substances, removing them from their traditional context. He glues and models a printed ream of paper, transforming it into a sculpture, constructing a machine imprinting yet more layers of symbols onto the white expanse of paper, until cutting pattern, cardboard wrapping or a paint roller. In this manner, he provokes questions about the structure of the work and the mechanical nature of creation.
