Kateřina Sedá

(b. 1977)                                                                                                                                                Installation, artistic action, drawing. The artist carries out projects that involve members of various local communities such as the family, neighborhood or the residents of a given district or village. Her actions usually take the form of a game or a task to perform in which the participants are at the same time both producers of the artefacts while also on the receiving end of the shared experience. She endeavors to simulate interaction, to construct, or bring out of oblivion, common ways of relating. The artist identifies with the participants of her projects, ordinary people, emphasizing that, in Czech, her name means ‘grey’. She displays the outcomes of sometimes months-long projects as extended installations, consisting of drawing, video and objects.
