Thursdays with Artists from the MOCAK Collection. Lukáš Houdek

25.08.2022 at noon, 2 pm and 5 pm

Published at:28.06.2022

To mark the 10th anniversary of the opening of MOCAK, we have launched a series of film screenings entitled Thursdays with Artists from the MOCAK Collection. As part of the project, each Thursday we will be showing interviews with artists whose works are in our Collection. On the day the entry to the MOCAK Collection exhibition is free.

In July and August, we present an interview with Lukáš Houdek. The interview includes discussion on how the work Hope Tour came to be. This work is currently displayed as a part of Politcs in Art exhibition that covers a very actual issue of European migrant crisis. The artist also talks about his philosophy of art, explaining how difficult experiences – also private ones – can be translated into art.

The projections take place on Thursdays in the audiovisual hall at noon, 2 pm and 5 pm.

Lukáš Houdek (b. 1984, Czech Republic)
Photography, object. His art remains inseparable from social activism. He began with photographic series documenting the lives of Roma people in various parts of Europe. He has made a series of works about the post-war conflicts between the Czech and German populations and the transformations taking place in the border areas after the war. He seeks practical solutions to the most pressing problems of a given community.
