The 32nd International Festival of Composers in Krakow

The 32nd International Festival of Composers in Krakow

MOCAK and the Krakow section of the Association of Polish composers invite you to the online closing concert of the 32nd International Festival of Composers in Krakow.

The Festival has been one of the most prestigious events to have featured in Krakow’s cultural calendar without fail since 1989. The festival aims to present and promote and present contemporary pieces by Krakow’s professional composers (from the doyens including the generation of professors through the distinctive middle generation to the youngest composers and composition students) in the context of the music composed in Poland’s neighbour countries, and the countries of the European Union and world music. This policy relies on organising concerts and public encounters with composers. In the course of the festival, there are also university talks given by speakers including music theorists from the Academy of Music in Krakow and musicologists from the Jagiellonian University.

For 20 years, the musicologist Jerzy Stankiewicz had been the artistic director of the festival, who provided the programme vision. Since 2014, it is the Marcel Chyrzyński who has taken over the function.
