Shahar Marcus
(b. 1971)
Film, photography, performance. In his performances, he explores the limitations of his own body by subjecting it to experiments that he conducts using transient, organic materials such as dough, bread and ice. He also takes on board the issue of his national identity and the history of Israel. Another significant area in his work is the world of art. By personifying various figures such as Yves Klein or a curator, he comments ironically on the mechanisms of the art world and pays homage to artists that are important to him.
