The artist often uses impermanent organic materials, which he confronts with his own body. In the performance The Boxer he fights with a huge, unruly piece of bread dough, of some 100 kilograms in mass. Two loaves are used as his boxing gloves. He effects a profanation of the bread-making ritual by turning it into an act of aggression, ending in a defeat. The video shows man’s helplessness in the face of the basis and source of life. The work is part of a series ironically exposing the interdependence between food and violence.
