Paweł Książek

(b. 1973)                                                                                                                                                  Paweł Książek is inspired by the mass media, pop culture and history. He groups his works thematically, modifying each motif repeatedly and viewing it in many different ways. In his series Figures, the order is created by giving each painting a title that consists of its number in the series. The artist created these works using film frames and found photographs. Transferring an image from the medium of photography to painting, he adjusted the painting mode to the theme in hand. Tensions created by fast expressive brush movements and enhanced by the gestures of the depicted actresses; their gaze downwards, their eyes remaining invisible.
