The series of sessions entitled Open Your Eyes! Open Your Ears! is a project inspired by the work of the Second Krakow Group, which can currently be seen at the Museum in the exhibition Artists from Krakow: The Second Krakow Group. Each session encourages creative and active exploration of contemporary art and music. We have invited multidisciplinary artists associated with Krakow and a leading Polish contemporary music ensemble, Spółdzielnia Muzyczna, to collaborate with us and conduct workshops.

On Sunday 19 November at 12 noon and 3 pm you are invited to the workshop Collective Composition: Workshop for Young People and Adults: Collective Creation of a Piece of Music Using Samples and Electronic Tools Prepared Earlier, produced in collaboration with the Musical Co-operative as part of the series Open Your Eyes! Open Your Ears!

Composers Barbara Buczek, Adam Walaciński, Bogusław Schaeffer and Marek Chołoniewski, who were part of The Second Krakow Group, made free use of contemporary ideas and related techniques such as concrete music, electronic music and graphic notation. Together, we will try to follow in their footsteps – with the help of the techniques available to us, we will create a collective composition, notate it graphically and play it using samplers, which, as it turns out, can take quite unexpected forms.

The fee is 20 PLN per participant. Please book your place in advance, indicating your chosen group, on: edukacja@mocak.pl or by phone: 12 263 40 35 (Mon – Fri, 9 am – 4 pm). Tickets can be purchased at the box office before the start of the workshop, and they entitle you to visit MOCAK on the day of the event. The Museum will provide all the necessary materials. The workshop will be recorded by camera and video.
