OKNOPLAST and MOCAK announce the start of the second edition of the international competition for visual artists. As before, OKNOPLAST FOR ART participants will create works using a window manufactured by OKNOPLAST.

The winner of this year’s edition will receive a cash award of seven thousand euros, while the winners  of the second and third prize will receive three and two thousand euros respectively.

The winning works will be presented in an exhibition at MOCAK.

The competition task is to create a design for an artistic work based on a window, using any technique whatsoever. A representation of the window and its technical specification in the form of a CAD file and a PDF file are enclosed with the competition rules.

The competition is open to artists – students, graduates and post-graduates of art schools, as well as artists who have not completed a course of (art) studies, but who have documented their artistic activity in the form of a portfolio. The competition is also open to groups of artists who submit a joint work. The competition is open only to participants who are resident in the European Union. More than 200 artists from the European Union entered the first edition of OKNOPLAST FOR ART. The winner was Jakub Słomkowski, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. The other two winners were Andrzej Wełmiński and Mateusz Sak. The high standard of the competition entries led to the jury making the decision to award seven additional distinctions. All the winning projects could be seen at the exhibition at MOCAK in 2023, which ran from 29 June until 19 September.

‘Both us and our patron, which is OKNOPLAST, could see that there was clearly a need to organise a second edition of the competition. To be creating around a window is certainly an unusual challenge for an artist. However, in the previous edition of OKNOPLAST FOR ART we saw that this seemingly extravagant idea is capable of bringing some extraordinary artistic results,’ commented MOCAK Director Maria Anna Potocka.
