Joanna Pawlik
(b. 1974)
Painting, drawing, photography, video. Her work is based on the personal experience of an artist and a mother and someone with a disability. She produces projects in which she envisages herself as the main protagonist. She examines the mechanisms of social exclusion and talks directly about difficult times in life. She raises the topic of disability which she deals with ironically, without sentimentality or striking heroic poses. Photographically exposed images of children and adults, in which only the details and silhouettes can be seen, symbolise the responsibility related to motherhood.
