Haiku Performance at MOCAK
Published at:16.11.2011
On 22 November at 6 pm, Aleksander Janicki with HiQ Haiku group will perform at MOCAK as part of the Audio Art Festival.
In its performance, Haiku combines sound and image to reach levels inaccessible to intellect alone. Haiku’s art has its roots in the Taoist system of creative art, permitting an insight into the true, non-verbalised essence of the universe, which comes close to Dao itself.
The audiovisual performance combines the Japanese idea of haiku with contemporary visual art and intuitive musical improvisation. Haiku poetry and contemporary intuitive European music draw on similar practices, methods and sources of artistic creativity. In spite of different means of expression, both share a similar philosophical background and a way of interpreting the world, which relies on evoking similar, intuitive aesthetic responses.
