A number of cartographic methods exist, including those of Gall-Peters and Mercator. The former shows the actual relative size of the continents whilst distorting their shape. The latter makes navigation easier, albeit, at the expense of the proportion of the continents to one another. In education and navigation, it is the Mercator projection that is the most common, and that we have become accustomed to. The work, which presents the continents using the Gall-Peters projection, raises the question whether the image of many things around us has not been distorted due to untruthful representation.
