Leap of Faith

The sculptures of Sofie Muller are often inspired by childhood. The Leap of Faith shows a game of hopscotch, with the child hopping from one square to another on one foot only – a tricky task, especially if performed in a ‘headless’ manner, without thought or looking before you leap. Thoughtless children may grow up into ‘headless’ adults. The title shows up childish, often unthinking, self-belief.
