The painting shows the cemetery in Kazimierz Dolny on All Souls’ Day. In his own, indiosyncratic way, Tatarczyk has synthesised the situation, leaving only the recurrent motive of the burning torch. The graves are not visible, all that can be seen is the symbol of remembrance of the dead.
