Diary N98A
Abstract notation. Since 1989, the artist has been working on a series that could be described as a diary with coded content. The works in the series have been created by laying off a thick layer of free-flowing paint, into which vertical and horizontal lines have been subsequently gouged with a pencil. It is likely that each such notation conceals content that is meaningful to the artist, yet inaccessible to the viewer. The compositions have been marked with a consecutive number and the year in which they were created. They constitute a reflection on the passing of time, which the artist aims to represent in material form. The compositional disturbances and layered nature of the work can be interpreted as related to the essence of memory.
