The eponymous ‘marine’ view is shown from an unusual perspective, so that the sea is actually not visible. The artist is primarily interested in the sensuous aspect of the clouds, their configurations, and light effects that can be shown in them. The series can be perceived as studies of the sky, striking with their unique atmosphere of stopped time.
