I Shall Never Forget You

Władysław Hasior’s assemblages consisted of ready-mades, whether ones that the friends brought or others that the artist bought at flea markets or found. Hasior combined them in unusual ways, alluding to religious artefacts or artworks of old. Some of the titles are ironic or metaphorical; all these devices lent the compositions a surreal air. Every object used has symbolic content and sets in motion different interpretations. The sentimentality of the title of the work stems from the romanticism of the sculpture, confronted with other elements, deliberately kitsch. All this has been contained in a broken chalice, which perhaps symbolises the inevitable.
