Camp-style painting, neglecting formal individualism. Each painting manipulates the message so as to subjugate the whole to how a single glance or gesture is presented. The energy of the painting culminates in a selected point. In one image, this is the bitterness of an older ‘babe’ neglected in preference for a younger one; in another – the tension of the jaws that desire a pie; in yet another – the disquiet of a woman unable to attract a male; in another work still – two empty glances, dead in their indifference. These paintings do not represent anything; they simply make a comment. This is emphasised by the unfinished character of the edges.
