30th International Festival of Krakow Composers

21.04.2018 at 7.30 pm

Published at:19.04.2018

MOCAK and the Krakow section of the Association of Polish Composers invite you to the concert taking place as part of the 30th International Festival of Krakow Composers.

The Festival (formerly known as Days of Music by Cracow Composers) has featured on the list of renowned cultural events in Krakow ever since 1989. The Festival aims to present and promote contemporary pieces by professional composers from Krakow – from those representing the classical canon and the academia and the outstanding middle generation to the youngest composers and students of composition – created in relation to the musical tradition of neighbouring countries, countries of the European Union and music throughout the world. This concept has been carried out through organising concerts and encounters with composers. During the Festival, there are lectures, by speakers including music theorists of the Academy of Music in Krakow and musicologists from the Jagiellonian University. For the last 20 years, the musicologist Jerzy Stankiewicz has been the artistic director of the Festival as well as the author of its programme. Since 2014, the composer Marcel Chyrzyński has taken over the function.
