//What Is a Gallery?//

What Is a Gallery?

On Sunday 24 February 2013, there was a workshop for children aged 4–12. The workshop accompanied the exhibition Beyond Corrupted Eye: Galeria Akumulatory 2, 1972–1990. During their visit to the exhibition, the children learnt about the unusual character of the Gallery Akumulatory 2 – a meeting place for artists from all over the world as well as an experimental space. The children found the answer to the question: What Is a Gallery?

During their tour, the young participants reflected on possible exhibition layouts, also by carrying out an art task related to the works of Richard Long – they created a drawing with their own footprints. Next, those present viewed paintings by Mikołaj Poliński from the series the Mechanics of the Sky, showing birds on the wing. Inspired by the series of works and the concept of a gallery, the children created their own exhibitions, themed on birds in flight.
