The Landscape of Our Emotions
The Landscape of Our Emotions
On 27 January 2013, children were invited to visit Anita Glesta’s exhibition Guernica and an associated art workshop. Pablo Picasso’s famous painting Guernica – a reference point for the works presented by the American artist – became the starting point for the creative workshop.
The children reflected on possible ways of visualising memories. Inspired by the film of a running stream, they created artworks, which became the landscape of their memories. These took the form of colourful boats, on which the participants drew images derived from their own memories and from stories which they had heard from their grandfathers. The first task involved drawing animals from Anita Glesta’s film, and then adding the missing element to the film. The workshop culminated in the communal making of a ‘memory imprint’ in the shape of a hand.
