What Is Art for? is a research project spanning a number of years, which aims to probe social attitudes to art. Is art just a pastime, or the tool to understand the world and transform it? Within the project, we shall be employing a variety of methods: from traditional interviews, via film recordings in selected situations to using works of art to draw conclusions. The project is culminated by providing answers to the questions posed, together with a sociological commentary and a cultural synopsis.
We begin with the statements by prominent writers and poets, edited by Tadeusz Nyczek. The second volume of interviews was prepared by Grzegorz Jankowicz.
