Slow Art Day at MOCAK!
Slow Art Day is the Polish edition of the international museum action of the same name. This year, it fell on 28 April. The action aims to encourage visitors to develop their own individual method of visiting the museum as well as to pay attention to the fact that each work has its history and significance, which can be discovered only, if one stops in front of it for longer that the eight-seconds average.
On the day, entry to MOCAK was free. Visitors viewed, in the first order, the five works which they had selected earlier from the temporary exhibitions as well as the MOCAK Collection. Each exhibit had a ‘carer’ in place – someone who encouraged viewers to ask questions and come up with their own interpretations of the work.
The viewing was followed by a get-together at the MOCAK Café, where, over a coffee, we all shared our impressions of the slow viewing of art.
