2012 Night of Museums at MOCAK
The opening of Night of Museums and new exhibitions, including Sport in Art, will take place at MOCAK on Friday 18 May at 7 pm. For this reason, only the MOCAK Collection III will be opened for visitors until 6 pm and then there will be an hour-long break. The cash desk will be opened until 5 pm.
Slow Art Day 2012
Slow Art Day is an international museum action which aims to enable viewers to find their own way of responding to art and internalising it at a gentle pace. In every museum participating in the action a number of temporary or permanent exhibits will be selected for viewers to spend a few minutes on leisurely contemplation of each of them.
Whose history?
Whose History?, is a year-long site-specific artwork and curatorial project by artist Joshua Schwartz. The project uses an advertising billboard in the city of Oswiecim, Poland as an exhibition space for a series of artists to present works that confront the city’s conflicted past. The exhibition runs till 25th April.
The Library Opening!
On Saturday 31 March at 11 am the MOCAK Library will open. The event will be accompanied by the workshop Return of the Book, organised in collaboration with the project Salt as well as a guided tour of Mieczys aw Porębski’s Library.

Lynn Hershman Leeson at MOCAK
On Tuesday 13 March at 5 pm, you are cordially invited to a meeting with the artist Lynn Hershman Leeson which will take place at MOCAK and to a projection of her film !Women Art Revolution. The meeting, conducted in English, will be hosted by Matylda Szewczyk of the Institute of Polish Culture at the Warsaw University. Do come! Entry free.
Contemporary Silesian architecture
On Wednesday 29 February at 6 pm, MOCAK and Autoportret (ed. by MIK) invite you to a session Contemporary Silesian architecture − Post-1989 Identity. The identity of Silesia, its modernism and neo-modernism – these will be the topics which Dorota Leśniak-Rychlak will be discussing with Przemo Łukasik (medusa group) and Anna Syska (Silesian Centre of Cultural Heritage).
