Model Patterns!
In what way does folk design make its way into contemporary art? Can folk art inspirations be found in the works of contemporary artists? Such questions taxed the participants of the artistic workshop Model Patterns!
It took place on 21 February 2012 as part of the Holiday at MOCAK. The workshop was attended by the group from the Association U Siemachy.
To start with, the participants looked at selected works from the MOCAK Collection with a view to identifying any recurrent patterns. Next, in groups, they produced art works using the cut-out technique.
The workshop continued with the Museum transformed into a folk art design workshop. Using jelly paints, the children created beautiful, colourful spatial works, in which traditional patterns found a new, contemporary context.
