MOCAK Collection at ArtVilnius’19
Between 30 May – 2 June 2019 there will take place the jubilee 10th edition of the International Fair of Contemporary ArtVilnius’19. It will be accompanied by a special exhibition programme, as part of which MOCAK – for the fourth time – will be presenting some of its collection.
The exhibition Artist in the Field of Art comprises three photographic series and four video works related to art history, masterpieces, the creative process and the roles of the artist and the curator. On the exhibition we display works by Andrzej Dłużniewski, Géza Perneczky, Łódź Kaliska, Azorro and Shahar Marcus.
The Museum has been assembling the MOCAK Collection from its very inception. Today, it numbers over 5 000 works by more than 300 Polish and foreign artists. It is the Museum’s ambition to convince the viewers not professionally involved with art that art. is an essential instrument for the understanding of the world. We want to dispel the misperception that art should aim to please or else that it sets out to violate values and provoke. MOCAK’s main goal is to bring together art and its audience – the Collection is instrumental in achieving this goal.
