Jiří Kolář Eyewitness. 1949 Diary

Eyewitness is a poetic record of the twelve months in the life of the Czech writer, poet and artist. With his characteristic openness, Kolář describes the callousness of the socialist regime, the ruthlessness of the authorities of the era and the drama facing his friends. The book did not appear in print in Czechoslovakia until 1983; an earlier edition had been destroyed when in 1970, Kolář was refused permission to publish.

The present book is the first Polish edition of Kolář’s complete diaries, translated into Polish.
