Go Draw!
On 30 April 2012 a workshop for secondary school pupils and students took place in the Museum with the participation of Mariusz Tarkawian, an artist whose works were on show as part of the exhibition Comics. Urban Legends at MOCAK.
The two-part workshop started with a meeting in the MOCAK Reading Room, where the participants met the artist and were welcomed by the MOCAK staff. They talked about themselves and their interests and went on to make portraits of one another. In turn, the artist told the participants about his own work, starting with his early-childhood beginnings of taking an interest in drawing, up to talking about his most recent works.
In the second part of the session, the Beta Gallery was turned into a comic studio! The guests produced their works directly on the walls and they made creative alterations to Mariusz Tarkawian’s comic strip, adding bits and transforming the story told. An educational publication will present the results of the workshop.
