Centre for the Documentation of the Art of Tadeusz Kantor Cricoteka and Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow would like to invite you to the second of a series of meetings promoting the book Pokolenie Solo. Choreografowie w rozmowach z Anną Królicą (Generation Solo. Anna Królica's interviews with choreograhphers) published as part of the project titled Who Inspires Us? Tadeusz Kantor!.

The following participants will take part in the meeting: Anna Królica, Anna R. Brzyńska, Łukasz Gazur and Wojciech Klimczyk.

The book is a series of 25 interviews with young Polish choreographers, arranged as a generation narrative. Successive interviews reveal many recurrent motifs and a similar pattern of professional development: stuydying under the same master teachers like Henryk Tomaszewski, Jan Fabre, Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker or Iwona Olszowska, Leszek Bzdyl and Witold Jurewicz. One can also see the traces of projects and workshops organised together or graduating from the same schools.

The interviews reveal the picture of independent choreographers' work, whose specific character lies in the strategy of simultaneous activities in Poland and abroad, in being continuously on the road between one project and another. Temporariness, nomadic lifestyle, the pursuit of one's goal and striving for perfection determine their daily routine. This record of meetings and discussions about dance constitutes the image of the Polish dance stage in the last decade. It is also a testimony to changes taking place in choreographic stage practice. Thus beside dance theatre the new dance and new vision of corporeality that goes with it are undeniably gaining ground.

The publishing of the book is a part of Chorographic Machine programme,
which in turn is a part of Who Inspiers Us? Tadeusz Kantor! project realized by the Centre for the Documentation of the Art of Tadeusz Kantor Cricoteka in the years 2013-2014 and subsidized by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. The interviews were partly conducted in 2012 thanks to a creative grant from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.

During the meeting the book will be available at MOCAK Bookstore at a special price of 25 zł.
