On Thursday 25 April, you are welcome to a guided tour in English of the exhibition Food in Art.

Food in Art is the 11th exhibition in MOCAK’s flagship series Civilisation in Art, in which we confront important areas of life with the reflections of artists. We present works by 66 artists from many countries, in a variety of media such as painting, photography, video, object and installation. Food is a social activity, a basis for identity and even a tool of resistance. Contemporary artists are concerned as much with scarcity as with an excess of food. The former can result in hunger and starvation, causing social inequality and individual indignity and leading to social devastation; the latter manifest in consumerism and food waste as well as the detrimental health effects of pursuing a poorly balanced diet. The exhibition will contribute to the analysis of both the aesthetic potential of food, which art has explored for centuries as well as its ethical and philosophical dimensions.

Admission included in the ticket price. No advance booking is required. Participants are requested to turn up at the MOCAK reception five minutes before the guided tour. The estimated duration of the guided tour is 90 minutes.

The event is part of Cracow Art Week KRAKERS. This year’s edition of KRAKERS takes place from 12 to 19 May, under the banner of Feel, Feel, Keep Feeling.
