Fabian Knecht: Path of Most Resistance
25.04.2025 - 07.09.2025
A giant camouflage net has been hung on MOCAK’s wall. It is the work of the German artist Fabian Knecht, whose exhibition we are currently showing at the museum. This is the first-ever presentation of this artist in Poland.
The exhibition Path of Most Resistance features works that are the result of the artist’s repeated travels through Ukraine, which began in 2005. Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale onslaught, the artist has been actively supporting the Ukrainian resistance and volunteering. The artist’s humanitarian war experiences are reflected in his artistic activity. The exhibition of Knecht’s latest works, in keeping with the nature of his art, ventures beyond the gallery space.
In his artistic practice, Fabian Knecht uses performance, installation and photography, among others. His work is characterised by anti-authoritarianism and recognition of the primacy of the social function of art. By creating situations and images that question existing social norms and relations, as well as behavioural and perceptual patterns, he forces the viewers to experience art directly.
