The sculpture 7+1 consists of salt cylinders sitting in concreto containers. The last of those turns independently. The cylinders were made of salt from the Kłodawa salt mine, noted for its brownish impurities, which give each cylinder its individual appearance. The juxtaposition of these characteristics combines to create a richness of symbols, each containing its own opposite. Salt is symbolic of wealth, of everyday utility; but also of bitterness and bad taste. Concrete stands for solidity, security, but also confinement and limitation.
