The work is a copy of the landscape in the 1871 portrait of James Whistler’s mother. The ‘imprisoned’ painting, relegated to a secondary role, has become a work in its own right, thanks to Rafał Bujnowski’s work. It has been painted in fifty copies, only very slightly different from one another.
