The artist reinterprets Far Eastern pottery tradition, turning three-dimensional objects into two-dimensional. In Chinese, the title of his reliefs means ‘a path’. We can interpret his art as the setting out of a new path forward with the use of traditional tools – in a departure from a visual stereotype that has been created over the centuries.
