The artist, who was born in Iran and grew up in Britain, has a dual cultural heritage. In his works from the series Eternal Now, he combines the skull motif – which in European art denotes the transient nature of life and earthly goods – with a rich, hand-painted Oriental element – in extolment of aesthetic experience.
