And Cut!

Artist: Deborah Sengl
Technique: installation
Date: 2012

The artist explores the relations and interdependencies between man and animal. In what is part of a long tradition of animal studies in art, her technique of choice is taxidermy (preparing and stuffing dead animal’s skins). In the vein of classical fables, animals represent human types in Sengl’s works. The expression ‘And Cut!’, as used on a film set, is a reference to the diverse roles that we get to play during our lifetime.
