Glider
In his work, Kempinas uses the video tape not as a, now quite outmoded, carrier of the film image, but as a quasi-sculptural material. He draws attention to its physical characteristics such as its black colour and its lightness and flexibility that render it perfect for making ‘drawings that glide through the air’. The impression of flight or levitation make his installations kinetic art. Kempinas emphasises his fascination with the poetry of the surreal.
